AI visibility audits for brands

A prospect asks an AI assistant a question about your market. The answer mentions two competitors, cites a three-year-old review site and gets your pricing wrong. An AI visibility audit shows you what those answers say, which sources they rely on and what you can fix.

What you receive

  • A question set built around what your buyers actually ask.
  • A dated baseline of answers from the AI platforms you agree on, with the prompt, date and cited URLs recorded for each.
  • Annotated answers showing mentions, cited sources and factual errors.
  • A prioritized action list, split into website fixes, source gaps and topics that need more evidence.
  • An option to repeat the same questions on a schedule.

Mentioned, cited or wrong

The audit separates three things that often get lumped together.

  • A mention. The answer names your business.
  • A cited source. The answer links to a page as evidence. That page might be yours, a directory or a competitor's comparison.
  • An inaccurate answer. The answer says something about your business that isn't true, such as an old price, a service you don't offer or a location you closed.

Each one leads to a different fix. A missing mention may be a content gap. A cited third-party page may need correcting at the source. An inaccurate answer often traces back to an old page that still says the wrong thing.

What gets tested

We build the question set with you, grouped by buyer need. For example, questions a buyer asks when comparing providers, when checking price and when deciding whether you serve their area.

For every answer we record the platform, the date, the exact prompt and every cited URL. That makes the baseline repeatable.

A sample has limits, and we say so. AI answers can change from one day to the next and can differ between users. One run is a snapshot, not a ranking. We only call something a trend after repeated observations show the same pattern.

How to read an answer

A contact page answer checked on November 3, 2026

For this demo, we gave OpenAI Codex the text and URL of our Let’s talk page. The question names the brand, so this run tests whether the answer describes the contact process accurately. It does not measure how often the brand appears in an unprompted search.

Prompt

Using the supplied contact page, how do I send Marketing AI Engineers a project enquiry? Does the form send it for me?

Demo answer

Describe your project and select “Open email draft.” Your email app opens a draft addressed to ian@iandolan.com. You review it and send it yourself.

Source check

The supplied page lists Ian’s address and says “Review and send the draft in your email app.” The answer describes that last step correctly. It gives the email address but does not repeat the company name or cite a URL. We would record those as separate observations.

Next action

Keep the instruction beside the button. If the form changes to send enquiries directly, repeat this question and check whether the answer has caught up.

What to fix and what to monitor

Website corrections

Pages on your own site that are out of date, unclear or missing an answer buyers need. These are usually the fastest fixes.

Source gaps

Third-party pages the answers rely on that are wrong or incomplete, such as directories, review sites or old press coverage.

Topics that need more evidence

Questions where nothing clear exists yet, on your site or anywhere else. These may need new content, original data or expert input.

Optional recurring tracking

Once the baseline exists, we can rerun the same question set on a schedule. AI Answer Tracker in our build catalogue compares mentions, answer tone and cited sources over time. Repeated runs are what make trends meaningful.

What we don't promise

We can show you what AI answers say and help fix what's within reach. We can't guarantee that any platform will mention or cite you, or change how it describes your business. Anyone who promises that is guessing.

Implementation

Many fixes are website changes. If your site needs new pages, better structure or corrected content, our custom website development work can carry them out.

Which question do your prospects ask?

Send us your brand and one question a buyer would type into an AI assistant. We'll tell you what a baseline would cover.
